There’s something about the magic of this season that always makes me want to do MORE things with The Mister whether it’s taking a snowy walk by day or sipping hot chocolate by night. Of course, the season can be busy so it can get hectic so we always try to schedule date nights in advance!
Here are our top 6 date nights in December:
1. Christmas Craft Shows
In Toronto, we always managed to go to the One of a Kind show during Christmas so that we could find cute and unique gifts for Christmas. In Vancouver, they have a similar craft show called the Make It show that features homemade gifts and treats and it’s equally as awesome!
2. Christmas Market
Hands down our favourite thing to do in Toronto was the Distillery District Christmas Market. Here in Vancouver, they have the Vancouver Christmas Market and although it doesn’t have the same ambience that old buildings and cobblestone walkways of the Distillery District, I would still say it’s WAY better. The Vancouver Christmas Market has less crowds, more authentic, European ornaments and amazing European style food such as perogies, Belgian waffles and German sausages.
3. Christmas Trains – Stanley Park
This is 100% new to us this year. When I found out there was a train that goes through Stanley Park at Christmas, I knew we would have to do it! What’s more romantic than being bundled up in winter gear and seeing the magic of Stanley Park at Christmas? Not much, I reckon!
4. Hot Chocolate Tasting
Whether you go out and buy hot chocolate at the store and bring it home to taste or you do a Hot Chocolate Crawl, this is definitely going on our date night list for December!
5. Grinch and Grilled Cheese
No matter what, we always make time to watch the old animated version of the Grinch Who Stole Christmas and eat grilled cheese. This is our 16th year doing it! I totally encourage you to find a similar holiday tradition.
6. Christmas Movie Marathon
When the weather is crappy it’s the perfect time to snuggle up and watch Christmas movies! Some of our favourites are The Charlie Brown Christmas, Muppet Family Christmas, Muppet Christmas Carol and Duck the Halls a Mickey Mouse Christmas special!
I hope some of these ideas help to keep your marriage a top priority during this season. I’m fairly certain that we will be able to accomplish ALL of these date nights this December!
So tell me, what did I miss? What would you add to my list? Do you have a Christmas tradition you do every year?
