November 2016 Goals/October Recap

Whoa! Can anyone else believe it’s already November? I have no idea where the year went. Before I know it, it’ll be the new year.

Despite being unexpectedly busy at work and in life this October, I think I’ve done pretty good with my goals.

Let’s see how I did:

We celebrated our wedding anniversary with baked chicken wings and mojitos for me and spinach dip and cheesecake for him at Boston Pizza while we watched the Toronto Blue Jays game. We also managed to plan 2 other date nights! Although both times we definitely didn’t get very creative and just went to the movie theatre, it was still an awesome time!

My goal of two books was pretty lofty considering I hadn’t really read much in September, but I did it! In the end I actually read three books! The first book I read was Falling by Emma Kavanagh and I wasn’t really impressed. The story was weak and I couldn’t get into it. The second book I read was Uncovered by Leah Lax and I LOVED it. It was a really great non-fiction book that I needed after such a crappy first book. The third book was a bit meh, Where Am I Now by Mara Wilson. I wanted to LOVE this book but it fell a bit flat, some parts were really awesome and others fell flat for me.

I also discovered an awesome podcast through our local broadcasting station on earthquakes and how Vancouver is preparing for the “Big One”.

Uhhh…ya, my body definitely got neglected this month since I became unexpectedly busy at work so, ya, let’s say this was a TOTAL FAIL!

Let’s also skim over this because I only managed to go out in nature once this month. Again, it’s been an insanely busy month and next month is going to be insanely busy so….let’s just say I’m happy I got out at least once.

I managed to declutter the front hall closet, the linen closet and my bedroom closet! I also didn’t manage to make a fall wreath but I did manage to make a fall centrepiece so I’m calling this a big WIN!

Random Acts of Kindness
Oops, yup, 100% forgot about these and I was SO busy that I forgot that I even had this category so this wasn’t done…

I’m super busy in November as well but I’m going to keep setting goals to keep a momentum going. I’m still thinking this will be a light month for goal-setting.

Onto November goals!

  • Plan and execute 2 date nights.
  • Make a plan for what to do with extra money made.
  • Do an unexpected chore that The Mister hates.
  • Have a technology-free night with The Mister at least 1x a week.

  • Read three books.
  • Do a 1000 piece puzzle and finish it.
  • Spend 5 minutes a day in quiet time.

  • Do my hip exercises from the physiotherapist.
  • Go for a walk on my lunch at least 1x a week.

  • Go for a hike with The Mister.

  • Finish our family photo wall.
  • Organize/declutter under the bathroom sink.

Random Acts of Kindness

  • Do something nice unexpectedly for a friend.
  • Give up my seat no matter what to anyone who may want or need it on the Skytrain at least 2x a week.

There you have it, my goals. Let’s hope November is as successful as October.

So tell me, what are your goals for November? Do you set goals for yourself each month? If so, do you find it helps keep you progressing?

  1. It’s annoying how Oct. is one of the prettiest months to spend time outside but it always seems to be one of the busiest months of the year! Not fair! (Though I’d say you did great with your goals! I’d like to use Nov. to declutter my house.)

    Good luck with November! 😀

  2. I love your goals categories! I’m really impressed by all your home accomplishments in October. I desperately need to declutter my office and our bedroom. I have a small decluttering goal for November for just my stuff in our bedroom.

    1. I went on a rampage over one weekend when it was really raining and got all that decluttering done. I’m hoping it can at least stay that way through the new year. Good luck on your decluttering for November!

    1. Thanks, Chelsea! I’m hoping I can continue with this goal-setting momentum. It feels nice to see what I’ve done over a month, ya know? I literally have no idea how it’s November. I swear it was March like last week.
