With the weird spring weather we are having here in Toronto coupled with the fact that I’m a bit on edge going to restaurants after my recent allergic reaction we haven’t physically gone out much. With all that’s going on I decided we needed to get creative if we wanted to do a date night. Our criteria for a stay-at-home date night was pretty simple. 1. Had to be a ‘new’ activity/movie to us and 2. Could only involve going outside for the prep of date night but all date night activities had to be inside our apartment.
Here’s some cozy stay-at-home date night ideas we came up with!
1. Movie/Show Marathon
Is there a show or movie you’ve been meaning to watch? It’s a simple date night that sometimes people look past because it’s standard but there’s nothing better than cuddling up together and watching a good show or movie. I’m also SO excited to try these popcorn ideas from A Prioritized Marriage for our next movie marathon.
2. Indoor Picnic
Spread a blanket down in the living room and enjoy your favourite picnic foods like sandwiches and fruit salad. Bonus points since bugs won’t be crawling up you to get your food.
3. Homemade Pizza Night
Cuddle up beside each other in the kitchen and make your own pizza. You can go fancy with things like artichokes and spinach or plain with pepperoni and green peppers.
4. Living Room Camping
It’s been a LONG time since I camped outside but camping indoors is easy. Make indoor s’mores and tinfoil dinners in your oven. Make a tent out of forts and sleep in sleeping bags on your living room floor!
5. Reminisce With Your Yearbook or Wedding Album
Facebook can be good for seeing what people are up to but sometimes it’s just fun to imagine what people from your old high school are doing. Have some fun trying to figure out what people from your high school are now doing! If you don’t have the luxury of having a yearbook, break out the wedding album and reminisce about your wedding day!
6. Create a dream board together
We have a lot of fun talking about our dreams and goals but there’s something concrete about putting it down on paper. Break out the magazines, scissors and glue and see your dreams!
7. Spa Night
Who doesn’t like to get pampered? Break out the nail polish and natural ingredients and make face masks and DIY foot scrubs and give each other foot and back massages or have a bath for two.
8. Ice Cream Sundae Bar
Buy a couple different ice cream flavours, your favourite toppings and sauces and go crazy!
Have you ever played Mad Libs? They are a ton of fun! Your stay-at-home date night is the perfect time to get silly with Mad Libs. I’ve also seen romantic Mad Libs for couples if you want to get less silly and more romantic.
10. Go dancing in your living room
Make a playlist of fast and slow songs so you can really get down.
These are just a few of the MANY ways you can still make date night a priority – whether it’s the weather or small children keeping you from having a date night!
So tell me, what are YOUR favourite stay-at-home date night ideas?
