It’s been awhile since I’ve done a book tag so I thought I’d remedy that with The Birthstone Book Tag! This book tag makes you really think which I love and gets the heart of why I love books(hint: The emotions!). This tag was created by Jay G.
January (GARNET): Associate with warding off negative forces and dark energies – Name a book with the darkest/evilest character you can think of.
The entire Dexter series but the first one in the series is Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay
February (AMETHYST): Purple is associated with royalty – Name a book with regal qualities… You can base this off of characters of choose the King of all books.
The Princess Diaries Series by Meg Cabot.
March (AQUAMARINE): Washed out – Name a ‘wishy washy’ character, a character who is not strong or a follower.
Joanna Rigsby from The Secret Diaries Series.
April (DIAMOND): A diamond in the rough – Name a book that you loved but is not well-known.
Contrary to this being on the New York Times Bestseller list(I think?) no one seems to know about Still Missing by Chevy Stevens.
May (EMERALD): Said to balance energy – Name two characters who balance each other well.
Rosie & Don Tillman from The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion.
June (Pearl): Associated with loyalty – Name a character who is loyal to the end.
Joanna from the Secret Diaries Series. I don’t understand most of her actions but I suppose I’ve never been in her situation.
July (RUBY): Blood red – Name a book that made your blood boil, one that made you angry.
Tampa by Alissa Nutting. It made my blood boil because of the predatory nature that was the main character. The book though was fantastic.
August (PERIDOT): Pale green (it pales in comparison to other gems) – Name a supporting character who you like better than the main character.
Beyond nice, she’s the opposite of Dexter, Rita Morgan is a great mom who loves her kids and clearly sees the best in everyone, including a serial killer like Dexter.
September (SAPPHIRE): Blue like the ocean which is calming – Name a book that had a calming effect on you.
Brooklyn by Colm Toibin. Ya know when you read a book and you’re 100% satisfied? There wasn’t a lot of drama(other than moving across the ocean!) but this book was calming and 100% satisfying.
October (OPAL): Iridescent – Name an iridescent book, this can be a book with a beautiful cover (Shiny? Lots of colour?) or you can base it off of a character (Quirky? Colourful?).
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold – I’m pretty sure this has something shiny on it? Or am I misremembering it?
November (TOPAZ): Associated with resilience – Name a books with a character who rises to the top in a time of adversity.
Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy was the last YA book I’ve read. It was amazing! I loved the main character who didn’t fit into what society deems normal. She’s an overweight girl who is proud of her body.
December (BLUE ZIRCON): Associated with friendship – Name a book with a friendship you want to be apart OF.
The Thousand Dollar Tan Line by Rob Thomas – Veronica Mars is the main character that I would want to be friends with most! She’s sarcastic, fun and doesn’t put up with people who I find so refreshing. She also gets to do some pretty cool things so I’d love to be her friend!
As always, if you want to tag yourself, DO IT!
So tell me, how would you answer this book tag?
