What I’m Reading This Winter

What I'm Reading This Winter

I’ve been in a book slump for a while. Oh sure, I’ve read a couple of books since the slump started about 6 months ago but nothing that has hooked me into reading until this weekend. I decided to go back to some of my favourite authors when I was younger, the authors that made me fall in love with mysteries and I’m SO excited to get reading! I just wish the weather would start to get chilly so I can find an excuse to stay inside and read!

Here’s what’s on my list:

The Melody Lingers On by Mary Higgins Clark – Mary Higgins Clark was the first mystery author I read. I read all of her books in quick succession in high school and then I picked up other authors, but honestly? She writes a good mystery book so I’m going back to the best.

Bad Move by Linwood Barclay – I thought I’d read all of Linwood Barclay’s books but apparently in my slump he decided to put out a couple of books I’d never heard of it, this is just one of them. He writes a great mystery book with a lot of the same characters which I enjoy in any mystery book.

The Crossing by Michael Connelly – Michael Connelly was the third mystery author I found after Mary Higgins Clark and James Patterson. He writes a great book and I’m excited that his two main characters will be in one book!

Old City Hall by Robert Rotenberg – This has been on my to-read list for years and I’m excited to read a mystery book set in Toronto!

The Truth and Other Lies by Sascha Arengo
Amanda gave me this book to read in the summer to try and get me out of my reading slump and I started it but I didn’t finish it but now that I think my reading slump is over I’m excited to continue.

Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter
I received this as an ARC at the Harper Collins Fall Book Preview and I still haven’t read it even though I wanted to. This winter, I’m going to make it happen!

Have you read any of these? Or do you have any great recommendations that are similar that I should add to my reading list?

    1. I honestly didn’t think I’d enjoy reading ever again(gosh that sounds dramatic!) but I’m so motivated by these books to keep reading that I’m remembering why I love reading!

  1. ‘ve added quite a few of these recommendations to my TBR list! Thanks for sharing these!! I love a good mystery/thriller/suspenseful book in the winter! I feel like the summer is all about “lighter reads” but the winter is perfect for the heavy deep and real subjects. I have an awesome winter read entitled “The Question” by R. Breuer Stearns ( The book focuses on a group of government scientists working on a group think project. This unity of minds has come together to determine if God exists and you can imagine the kind of controversy that follows such an experiment. The book truly is a philosophical journey that covers a wide range of topics (politics, religion, the human condition). I felt the characters were well developed and best of all the SUSPENSE and plots twists and turns in this book were amazing. I really hope you and your readers will check out “The Question” (Happy Winter Reading!)
