A Year in Review

2014 may have been my favourite year! Let’s take a look back at what I did.

January
I went with my mom, aunt, sister and grandma to Beckers Bridal to pick out my wedding dress.

February
I went over to the dark side and bought a Kobo. The Mister and I went to Ottawa.

March
I won an engagement shoot from Olive Photography so, The Mister and I bundled up and took some photos. We became tourists in our own city and visited the Bata Shoe Museum and Ripley’s Aquarium. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and started a gluten-free diet. A couple friends along with The Mister and I went to see the Veronica Mars movie. It didn’t disappoint!

April
My wedding dress came in! Also at the beginning of the month, I went with my three best friends and sister to find their bridesmaids dresses.

May
I went to my first Gluten-free Expo! Thanks to a malfunctioning shunt, I was in and out of emergency rooms trying to get some surgery to stop the headaches and nausea.

June
I finally had my brain surgery and The Mister was a great nurse, taking care of me. One week after surgery, I was back to work! I also went to visit the nubbins of flowers at my aunt and uncle’s farm, which were to become our wedding flowers.

July
I watched my cousin get married to the love of his life in a beautiful woodland ceremony.

August
I participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. I had my 28th birthday, gluten-free style at The Kensington Cornerstone. My sister and aunts threw me a bridal shower.

September
The Mister and I took some time out of wedding planning and saw The Book of Mormon musical. We watched the Blue Jays with the best seats ever- 8 rows back from home plate.

October
On October 4th, The Mister and I tied the knot! A week later, we were spending our first Thanksgiving as a married couple at my parents cottage near Lakefield.

November
I went with a friend to the Distillery District Christmas Market. I went to my second gluten-free food festival. Just like a lot of other women, I did the post-wedding chop! I told you about my families Christmas traditions.

December
I decided I’m only making one New Year’s resolution this year. I finally got a glimpse of the Hudson Bay window displays.  I tried to narrow down my favourite books I read of 2014.

  1. Brain surgery, how scary!! My dear friend’s husband has had brain surgery 4x in the last 4 years, malfunctioning shunts and all that good stuff. It’s not the greatest. But it sure makes you grateful for modern medicine! I hope your shunt continues to be in working order for a long time 🙂

    1. I’ve been extremely lucky that I’ve only had 3 shunt revisions, and one minor brain surgery last year(to replace the valve) in my almost 29 years. I’m hoping with this new valve that I’ll be able to go at least another 10 years without a surgery.
