A couple days ago, I just happen to be perusing the Toronto Star and their was an article about Feast. Feast stands for Fabulous Eats for the Allergic + Sensitive Types, and is Toronto’s first allergy-friendly gourmet food shop. Located on Queen Street West, this shop focuses on being free from the top 8 allergens: wheat, dairy, soy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, and shellfish. Along with being allergy-free they pride themselves in making everything from scratch, in house and by hand.
Feast creates golden brown savoury pocket pies filled with a few different combinations. Jerk Chicken, Beefeater, and Curried Black Bean. Along with pocket pies, they have 3 varieties of donuts: Triple Chocolate, Cinnamon Sugar and Coconut.
While visiting Feast I had to try the Jerk Chicken Pocket Pie. The pocket pie was brimming with chicken, and vegetables and bursting with flavour. The shell of the pocket pie was flaky and I immediately forgot I was eating something gluten-free.
The Cinnamon Sugar Donut was more cake-like than a soft donut, but was superb. Just sweet enough for an after lunch treat.
They also create coconut milk caramels and their own sunflower butters.
Feast provides a feast for everyone, but especially those with food allergies.
Run, don’t walk to this shop!
